ABOUT THE KELLOGG DOOLITTLE HOUSE

Nestled into the red rock landscape of Joshua Tree, California, the Kellogg Dolittle House is more than a residence — it is a living sculpture. Designed by iconic organic architect Kendrick Bangs Kellogg, this one-of-a-kind home is a masterpiece of biomorphic architecture, merging seamlessly with the high desert terrain. Originally commissioned in 1988 and completed over two decades, the home embodies a vision of artistry, sustainability, and radical design.

The Doolittle House is composed of massive concrete ribs and bronze details that rise from the earth like fossilized remains, echoing the natural surroundings of Joshua Tree National Park. Each element — from the flowing interior spaces to the handcrafted copper accents — has been thoughtfully designed in collaboration with artists like John Vugrin, who spent over 20 years refining the custom interiors and furniture.

AN ARCHITECTURAL ICON

The Kellogg Doolittle House has been featured in Architectural Digest, The New York Times, and countless documentaries for its visionary approach to living in harmony with nature. Often compared to the works of Frank Lloyd Wright and Antonio Gaudí, the home represents one of Kellogg’s most iconic and complete creations — and is regarded as one of the most important pieces of organic architecture in the world.

A Recent Enhancement: The Pool

In keeping with the home’s commitment to organic design and luxurious desert living, a brand-new pool has recently been added to the property. Thoughtfully positioned to capture sweeping views of the surrounding terrain, the pool is a serene extension of the house’s sculptural form. With natural materials and an unobtrusive design, it offers a tranquil, resort-like experience while remaining true to Kellogg’s original architectural vision. This addition enhances both the livability and value of the home, bringing a new layer of comfort and elegance to this already extraordinary property.

A Unique Investment Opportunity

With only one Kellogg Doolittle House in existence, this is an extraordinarily rare opportunity to own a home that is at once a luxury retreat, an architectural landmark, and a historical asset. Situated on over 10 acres of pristine desert, the property offers privacy, tranquility, and panoramic views, all while being just minutes from the heart of Joshua Tree.

Whether envisioned as a private residence, a curated luxury rental, or a part of a high-end architectural portfolio, the Doolittle House invites a rare kind of ownership — one rooted in vision, beauty, and legacy.
